No matter what your age, sex or background, keeping a healthy body is so important to prolonging your life. We are only on this planet such a short time so it is essential to follow a healthy diet, exercise and keep a positive happy outlook on life as much as possible. It is never too late to start thinking about what you eat and how your keep your body in shape but of course the earlier you start the better chance you have to live a longer life. Leading a healthy lifestyle when you are younger will become the norm and not something that can become an ordeal if started later on life.
There are now so many different diets and exercise regime out there that it is not really that difficult to use one or two in your busy daily schedule. But to be realistic it is always better to start off with one or two small steps and build up gradually than to leap into a strict regime that will be too difficult to maintain. When going on a diet, for instance, sometimes it just means giving up or reducing intake of one or two foods that are obvious in their fat or calorie content that can make all the difference to your weight. Maybe just cutting down on the number of slices of bread you eat on a daily basis, or using a smaller dinner plate, or eating more vegetables and fruit rather than too many carbohydrates (potatoes, bread, crisps, cakes, biscuits, chocolate etc) will make all the difference if introduced into your eating pattern.
Some people need help to lose weight as they might find it too difficult to do on their own. Joining a slimming club like Weight Watchers or Slimming World for instance, can make weight loss easier as you meet other like-minded people and give each other the support needed. You learn what foods to eat and will be amazed at how much you can actually eat and still lose weight. They introduce you to hundreds of delicious recipes you can cook at home and share with your family. Gone are the days when you have to starve yourself in order to lose weight.
When it comes to exercise it is not necessary to join an expensive gym. Just incorporating half an hour of exercise into your daily routine can make all the difference in achieving a healthy body. Walking instead of taking the car, or getting off a stop earlier from the bus, train or tube will make all the difference to your fitness. Gardening, housework, taking the stairs instead of the escalator, swimming, anything that will increase your heart rate, and make you slightly breathless are all within everybody’s capabilities.
